Japan Series MVP Yuki Yanagita swings so hard his batting helmet pops off
Japanese Series MVP swings out of his helmet
Some batters swing out of their shoes. Yuki Yanagita swings out of his helmet.
The leadoff batter for Samurai Japan and Japan Series MVP, Yanagita ripped off a buzzard of a swing, in his very first at-bat, that sent his batting helmet toppling off of his head. Just in case you thought he wasn't swinging hard, a helmet-popping swing is a pretty sure sign.
It was a swinging strike, sure, and Yanagita eventually grounded out to first, but that level of swing is still impressive.
In fact, it ranks fairly high on the list of Signs You're Swinging Hard:
Puffed cheeks
Muscles bulged
You swung out of your shoes
You created a breeze that knocked the pitcher's cap off
You created a breeze that knocked the pitcher off the mound
Your helmet fell off your head
Bat broke the sound barrier
Bat was vaporized in your hands
You ripped a whole in space-time
So just be thankful Yanagita didn't swing harder, or he might've sent us all flying into a wormhole.
