JaCoby Jones' first big league hit was a go-ahead double and his mom was there to see it

It's what every kid dreams of in the backyard: stepping up in front of the home crowd, with the score tied, and delivering your first career Major League hit to break the game open. But for Detroit third baseman JaCoby Jones, it became reality -- the Tigers called him up prior to Tuesday's game against the White Sox, and in the bottom of the sixth, he etched himself into baseball history with an RBI double to right:

Jones' first big league hit broke a 3-3 tie, and it sparked a four-run rally that led the Tigers to an 8-4 win.
And yet, after all that, the Baseball Gods decided this wasn't quite enough of a movie script, so they cranked things to 11. As it turns out, Jones' parents were in the crowd at Comerica Park, and they were adorable:

What, who left these onions here, we're not crying you're crying, be quiet, go call your parents.
