Ian Kinsler was shocked to discover that what he thought was strike three was actually ball two

Batters have been known to jump the gun a bit when it comes to balls and strikes -- when you're anxious to get on base, you might accidentally think you just took ball four instead of ball three.
During Wednesday's 4-0 win over the Angels, however, Detroit's Ian Kinsler made the opposite mistake: He was so convinced that he had just taken strike three from Yusmeiro Petit that he immediately started walking back to the dugout ... until he discovered that he was still alive.

What would Kinsler do with his at-bat prolonged? He struck out three pitches later.
