Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner threw out the first pitch as the Astros returned to Minute Maid Park
A week after Hurricane Harvey first hit southeast Texas, the Astros made their return to Minute Maid Park, hosting the Mets for a Saturday doubleheader. And while baseball certainly isn't the most important thing on Houston's mind right now, the city was certainly happy to welcome its team home.
Flanked by first responders and members of the Houston Police Department, Mayor Sylvester Turner threw out the ceremonial first pitch. As you can see from the clip above, it was a bit outside the strike zone -- but fans didn't seem to mind:
Before Game 1 got underway, Astros manager A.J. Hinch addressed the crowd: "Stay strong. Be strong. We appreciate every one of you."
