Help us make a batting order out of April's top-performing MLB players
Create an MLB super lineup out of April's top players
Adrian Gonzalez began the 2015 MLB season by demolishing every baseball in his sight -- at one point, he was on pace for 270 home runs. Nelson Cruz struck back the following week, homering in five consecutive games. Stretching back to last season, Matt Carpenter has reached base in 25 consecutive games. Devon Travis, a rookie, leads the American League in slugging percentage.
All of this is to say: It's early, but boy, there are a few players who are on absolute tears right now. If one assembled all of MLB's best players from April into a single lineup -- who wouldn't want to see that team play?
Actually -- that's a phenomenal idea. Let's do that.
Below are the top players at each position (yes, including pitcher) with the highest offensive WAR so far this season (all stats according to Baseball Reference as of April 28). But as with any lineup, an order is needed. Who should bat leadoff? Cleanup? Should the pitcher bat eighth?
Use the up-vote and down-vote buttons to try and organize the batting order how you see fit. (Example: If you think Nelson Cruz should bat cleanup, vote him up/down to fourth.)
The end result will be a true force to be reckoned with.
