Hanley Ramirez hit a homer so far it got caught in a net, and not even a police officer could free it
If you square up a pitch with the barrel of the bat, it'll go a long way. Hanley Ramirez did just that in the Red Sox's game against the Mariners on Tuesday night, and once the ball finally came down it immediately became a source of frustration for not one, but two men.
Ramirez's Statcast™-estimated 455-foot blast landed above the out-of-town scoreboard in some netting. But not just any netting, mind you. Instead, it was netting that proved to be quite a challenge for one Mariners fan in a Ken Griffey Jr. throwback jersey and his pals.
As he struggled, a King County police officer intervened -- since you can't just sit there wrestling with the upholstery at a ballpark for hours on end -- and took matters into his own hands. But alas, this ball just wouldn't be had:

See, it can happen without catwalks!
Here's hoping the sphere remains in the netting forever, serving as a permanent reminder of the night Hanley really got all of it.
