The El Paso Chihuahuas, Triple-A affiliate of the Padres, hosted the Wiener Schnitzel weenie dog race on Saturday. Now, that sentence brings up a few questions. 1. Why wasn't it a Chihuahua race? 2. Who won? 3. How adorable was it?
We cannot really answer the first question for you, but we're going to assume it's because all the Chihuahuas were busy playing baseball. In answer to the second and third questions, all we have to say is that a video is worth at least 1,000 words on that subject:
The truth is that it doesn't matter who came in first in the actual race, even though, according to the announcer, said dog won $500 in cash. Apparently dogs have bills to pay. No, the real winner is the dachshund who escaped from the race track and proceeded to run gleefully all over the field:
Swift as the breeze, no one could catch this little guy! Until, of course, his joy became so overwhelming he just had to lie down and process it all:
