The Giants came together to remember San Francisco mayor (and No. 1 fan) Ed Lee

Citizens of the Bay Area awoke Tuesday morning to read the news that Ed Lee, who served as the mayor of San Francisco since taking over for Gavin Newsom in 2011, had passed away after a heart attack at just 65 years old.
In addition to serving the city as mayor, Lee was also a big Giants fan. The team took time out to issue its heartfelt condolences to Lee's family and friends:

Hunter Pence and Christian Arroyo did as well:

As did Giants great Orlando Cepeda:

It was Lee who delivered an enthusiastic speech at City Hall after the Giants' World Series parade in 2014:

And, three years before that, he threw out a ceremonial first pitch at AT&T Park:

Clearly, the bond between Lee and the Giants went a step beyond. May he rest in peace.
