Get to know new Mariners first baseman Ryon Healy
On Tuesday, GM Jerry Dipoto suggested the Mariners wouldn't be quite as active this offseason after a flurry of activity a year ago. On Wednesday, Dipoto went ahead and kicked off the Hot Stove season by trading right-handed reliever Emilio Pagán and Minor League shortstop Alexander Campos to the A's for Ryon Healy. Will we ever learn?
Dipoto's opening move last offseason was acquiring first baseman Danny Valencia from Oakland, and then he went ahead and acquired Yonder Alonso from the A's at the deadline. So, we shouldn't be shocked to see him go back to the well for another Oakland corner bat in Healy. Healy, however, is much younger than the previous two Oakland acquisitions, and is coming off a sophomore campaign in which he hit 25 home runs with 78 RBIs in 149 games. Eight of those 25 dingers came in four games, as Healy was one of only 23 players with at least four multi-HR games in 2017.
