With Gerrit Cole's help, George Springer gave his bat a kiss after hitting a grand slam

Coming out of the All-Star break, the Astros have picked up right where they left off: dominating the American League West. They went 28-13 against their division rivals in the first half and continued that trend by beating the Angels on Friday, 3-1.
Saturday proved to be no different. The Astros jumped out to a 3-0 lead and loaded the bases in the top of the sixth for George Springer. He effectively put the game away with one swing:

The grand slam ended the Astros' scoring for the night, but they didn't need any further help in the 7-0 victory.
After the slam, Springer celebrated in the dugout by giving his bat a grateful smooch, with an assist from teammate Gerrit Cole:

Springer told MLB.com's Brian McTaggart that this was the same bat that he used to homer in the 2018 All-Star Game. He had never used it before and now has something good going with it, which Cole (his fellow All-Star) has teased, but endorsed.
"It's just a little thing between him and I," he said. "I figured I might as well keep hitting with it if I got a hit. He's making fun of me for it. It's a little funny thing."
Hey, it's only polite to thank the friends who make your accomplishments possible. Maybe next time, Springer will pull a Yasiel Puig and give the bat a lick as well.
