We have a lot of questions about Freddie Freeman's clapping technique

At this year's Oscars, America was presented with the very real possibility that Nicole Kidman did not know how to clap. To wit:

As it turns out, the strange hand ritual above was pretty easily explained: Kidman wanted to avoid damaging the very large ring she was wearing.
Freddie Freeman, on the other hand, was not wearing any rings during Atlanta's 6-2 loss to the Mets. So if you know what's going on here, please let us know:

After Matt Kemp broke a scoreless tie with a solo homer in the fifth, Freeman celebrated in the dugout by ... attempting to clap two imaginary erasers together? Imagining what it would be like if he were incapable of bending his hands? Giving his best impression of that terrifying monkey toy? 
Maybe this is what happens when there's no one around for him to hug.
