Throwback Photo of the Day: Judge Frank Robinson levied fines in the Orioles clubhouse
On Aug. 15, 1969, Frank Robinson and the Orioles beat the Seattle Pilots, 2-1, to extend their first-place AL East lead to a healthy 15 1/2 games.
After a win, the '69 Orioles would retire to their clubhouse, where the Honorable Judge Frank Robinson would levy the team's self-imposed $1 fines to collect money to throw a postseason party. As seen above, Robinson wore a mop on his head while presiding over the Court after that win over the Pilots
The win was the team's ninth in its last 10 games, and served as the third straight win in what would become a seven-game streak. Robinson and the O's went on to win the American League pennant after finishing 109-53, so it's safe to assume that Bryan Adams wasn't the only one enjoying himself that summer.
