Celebrate Corey Seager's 23rd birthday by revisiting his debut in front of his proud parents
Before steadily hitting and fielding his way to the 2016 NL Rookie of the Year Award, Corey Seager was a blue-chip prospect for the Dodgers. Today, Seager celebrates his 23rd birthday (yes, he's still that young), so it's time to reflect on his flashy introduction to the league just two seasons ago.
Back on Sept. 3, 2015, the Dodgers prepared to do battle with the Padres at Petco Park in an otherwise ordinary NL West showdown. But this was not just any showdown, as the fresh-faced Seager found his way into the lineup for his MLB debut.
Unsurprisingly, considering the unwavering poise and maturity that have become his default setting on the field, Seager was more than ready for that debut -- collecting the first two hits and first RBI of his career in front of some very proud parents in the stands:
In the Dodgers' game with the Giants on Wednesday, Seager began his celebration early by hitting the second-longest homer of the season:

Life's OK when you're barely 23 and one of the premier talents in the game.
Since that debut, Seager has gone on to unanimously win the NL Rookie of the Year Award, shoot up every fantasy league's draft board and even snare the cover of R.B.I. Baseball 2017. That game's multiplayer mode went live recently, and the game is available on Xbox One, PS4, iOS and Android devices, so you could even play against Seager himself -- although, he's pretty good at it.
