Distracted by his own great defense, Eric Hosmer forgets how many outs there are
Royals first baseman Eric Hosmer has a knack for slick defensive plays. His skills with the glove were on full display during K.C.'s 4-0 win over the Tigers on Thursday, but he might have earned a trip to Kangaroo Court as a result.
In the fifth, Jose Iglesias lofted a lazy popup toward foul territory -- but it was no match for Hosmer, who caught it with a neat little diving attempt.
However, he (incorrectly) thought that was the third out, tossed the ball into the stands and trotted to the dugout … until a smirking Salvador Perez caught his attention (as seen atop this post).
It's all good, though. Hosmer was able to laugh it off after the realization:
As well as after the game while speaking with MLB.com's Jeffrey Flanagan:
Hoz on who reminded him there were only two outs: "I think 30,000 people reminded me." He then laughed. #Royals
