Clayton Kershaw's last save before Game 5 was in the Minors in 2006, with Kenley Jansen catching
It was Kershaw's first relief appearance since Game 5 of the NLCS in 2009 -- a game they lost to the Phillies, 10-4. It was also the very first save of his decorated nine-year Major League career. We say Major League, because Kershaw did have one other save in his pro tenure. That was back in 2006, alongside a very familiar battery mate:
Clayton Kershaw's first career save. He had one in the Minors, in 2006, against the Gulf Coast Nationals. With Kenley Jansen as his catcher.

Yes, the closer who was subbed out for Kershaw in the ninth, was the catcher who caught his last (and only other) save 10 years ago in the Minors. It was also in a game against the GCL Nationals. Here's the box score if you don't believe us. Baseball is so weird and so amazing.
The Dodgers will meet the Cubs in Game 1 of the NLCS on Saturday (8 p.m. ET on FS1) at Wrigley Field.<o:p>
