According to AdWeek, the spot was filmed before a game in July and Jeter was more or less left to do as he pleased -- giving it that utter spontaniety.
Gatorade, the official sports drink of Major League Baseball since 1990, roped off a few blocks before a home game in the Bronx this July and "just kind of let Jeter go," said Carter. The shock and surprise on fans' faces when their idol walks into Stan's Sports Bar, or autographs baseballs, is genuine, she said.
The Yankees Captain was also apparently heavily involved in other aspects of the ad's production -- creating copy and going with Sinatra as the main tune. We're thinking there may be a bright future post-baseball ...
