Daniel Palka was one of the best high school basketball players in the country ... or was he?

White Sox slugger Daniel Palka has made a name for himself in 2018. His 27 dingers in just 388 at-bats not only lead his own team, but are also leading all rookies in baseball, one ahead of Braves phenom Ronald Acuña Jr. And Palka's dingers are hardly ordinary -- he hits them harder on average than just about anyone on the planet, and he seems to show no signs of slowing down.
But while Palka's exploits on the baseball diamond have started to gain more recognition, his track record of extraordinary athletic achievement actually stretches far beyond the baseball diamond. A quick glance at the Wikipedia page for the 2010 McDonald's All-American High School Basketball Game reveals that Palka participated in the high-end hoops showcase alongside several future NBA stars such as Kyrie Irving. He played for the East team and scored two points in 12 minutes of play:

... or did he?
Palka was, unsurprisingly, a star on the Greer High School baseball team in Greer, S.C. But he did not play on the basketball team there and was not selected for the premier annual high school hoops showcase.
He and a friend did a little Internet magic a couple years back and decided to beef up his high school athletic resume. If you ask him about it, Palka still "remembers" his time playing with Kyrie very well. He told us all about it during a recent trip to Yankee Stadium.
Check out the video at the top of the page to hear from Palka himself about what he remembers from the McDonald's All-American Game that he definitely, indisputably played 12 minutes in.
