Paul Goldschmidt destroys inside pitch, and Pirates' dugout phone, with screaming foul ball
Paul Goldschmidt is used to destroying baseballs, but on Wednesday he found another target of his offensive onslaught: the Pirates' dugout phone.
The D-backs slugger swung early on an inside pitch and walloped a screaming foul into the Bucs' dugout in the third inning of a game the Pirates eventually won, 5-4. Alas, this was no ordinary foul ball, as this one headed straight for the dugout phone and literally cracked it.
Pirates manager Clint Hurdle and pitcher Gerrit Cole gave their best effort at repairing the phone, but it just wasn't to be. Goldy's blast was too much.
