The D-backs and Rockies played on the most picturesque field for the Mexico Series
This weekend, the D-backs and Rockies headed down to Monterrey for the first of three series that will take place in Mexico this year. Surely the first thing you'll notice when checking out the game is how absolutely gorgeous the view was. Just look at the Cerro de la Silla looming over the field like heaven on earth:

But the view wasn't the only reason to tune in. After all, there were tacos! Delicious, delicious tacos.
Mexico, tacos, dbacks? .. yes please! @MLB_Mexico #MéxicoSeries ⚾️ lets go @Dbacks !! pic.twitter.com/L53V61FYCP

The field looked sharp. Check out the gorgeous logo drawing on the colors of the Mexican flag:

Monterrey baseball fans got to see Major League action up close:
Theres nothing like MLB baseball. @Rockies , please, don't make me wait another 20 years to see you here. #MéxicoSeries #MexicoSeries pic.twitter.com/76bb2pwAgt

Luis Gonzalez made the trip:
How crazy is baseball 29yrs later @Dbacks playing in Monterrey , Mexico and I run into my winter ball manager (Joel Serna) from playing on Los Potros de Tijuana back in 1990. #greatmemories pic.twitter.com/bM74osmcpp

Vinny Castilla, the all-time Mexican home run leader in the Majors, was on hand for the festivities:
Vinny Castilla is a legend in Mexico. He’s an icon in Colorado. It’s good to be Vinicio this week in Monterrey. #MexicoSeries https://t.co/D84RjhQxhp pic.twitter.com/tTUhlk7CWk

He got to throw out the first pitch, too:

Oh yeah, and there was a game to play.
Roberto Ramos, who hails from Hermosillo and smashed 32 homers in the Minors last year, snuck one over the left-field fence in Saturday's game:
Hitting your first home run of the spring? Great.

Hitting it in your home country? Even better. #MéxicoSeries pic.twitter.com/bLOXjEdCWz

The Rockies went on to win, 5-1, and I'm sorry, but just look at this view again. It looks like something out of a fantasy novel:

Sunday's game featured this to-the-very-back-of-the-concourse home run from Ildemaro Vargas.

That helped the D-backs to a 5-2 win in the second game. The fans didn't seem to care who won or lost, though. Because this was a baseball party:
One of the best things about covering a baseball game in Mexico is that you can never really tell if the home team won or lost. Some of the best fans in the world.#MexicoSeries pic.twitter.com/xm7taf91Yq

We'll now be anxiously waiting for the Reds and Cardinals to head to Monterrey for two regular-season games on April 13-14.
