Kyle Schwarber's NLCS home run ball is back where it belongs atop the Wrigley Field scoreboard
The Cubs' run to the NLCS last season was not short on iconic moments -- Jake Arrieta's no-hitter and general stretch-run immortality, knocking off the rival Cardinals to clinch at Wrigley for the first time, jukebox trolling all of St. Louis. But none of them could top Game 4 of the NLDS, with Kyle Schwarber putting a home run into low orbit:
The ball was eventually found on top of the right-field video board, and from there it went on quite a journey. At first, befitting any national monument, it was encased in glass right where it landed -- until, back in January, the Cubs moved it to a "safe, secure space," presumably because Indiana Jones had been looking for it.
But now, according to Cubs president of business operations Crane Kenney, the ball is back. During a segment on Chicago radio show, Kenney announced that the ball has been returned to its rightful home -- watching over the Cubs and their fans, should they ever need a rally.
