A Cubs fan managed to work the Commissioner's Trophy into his Wrigley Field proposal
Ever since the Cubs banished any and all 1908 jokes for all time, the Commissioner's Trophy has seen a lot. It's been on Theo Epstein's head. It took in a parade for the ages. It's gotten to hang out with Bill Murray -- er, kind of:
On Friday, it witnessed another first: a Wrigley Field proposal.
According to Chris Lenard, who uploaded the video to YouTube, he first started dating his now-fiancee at the Friendly Confines: Her dad has worked for the Cubs for decades, and she was an usher back in high school. So, they decided to make one more memory at Wrigley -- while they were in the outfield to see the Commissioner's Trophy up close, Lenard dropped down and popped the question.
She said yes, because of course she did.
