The Cubs watched David Ross on 'Dancing with the Stars' before raising their World Series banner

Monday was a special day for the Cubs, one everybody's been anticipating for quite some time: A new episode of "Dancing with the Stars" featuring Cubs hero David Ross in a brilliantly choreographed routine with his dance partner, Lindsay Arnold.
OK, the main focus of the night was obviously the raising of their World Series banner at Wrigley Field with a lavish and very well-deserved pregame ceremony before their series opening 3-2 win over the Dodgers -- but the players were also pretty pumped up about Grandpa Rossy cutting a rug on the DWTS set. So much so, in fact, that various players spent some time during Monday's rain delay watching -- and rooting on -- Ross' performance on the big screen in center field:

And what a performance it was, as Ross and Arnold danced to a rendition of Alphaville's "Forever Young," the song Ross used as his walk-up music last season with the Cubs:

Airing the segment at the stadium was actually something Ross suggested earlier in the day:

It became a big deal:

Making his wish come true was definitely appreciated by Ross:

For Monday's routine, Ross and Arnold scored a 31 from the four judges on "Dancing with the Stars," in hopes of advancing to the next round of the competition.
Back at Wrigley, once the banner was raised, the Cubs themselves paraded around the field with The Commissioner's Trophy -- with Anthony Rizzo leading the charge:

And in case you were wondering, Ross was indeed watching his ex-teammates' celebration from afar:

What a night in Wrigleyville. And though Ross wasn't able to be there in person on Monday, he'll be taking a red-eye flight in order to make it to Chicago for the ring ceremony on Wednesday:
