Cuban slugger Alfredo Despaigne's super slow home run trot belongs in a museum
Cuban slugger Alfredo Despaigne has the best home run
Cuban outfielder Alfredo Despaigne is largely considered one of the greatest international sluggers of his era. And if you weren't on board with that categorization before Monday, you should be now.
Despaigne homered (twice) for Granma in Cuban National Series play, including this fifth-inning ball he launched into orbit. The important thing to note in this clip, though, is the time it takes Despaigne to round the bases. No one has ever milked a home run for more time.
Billy Hamilton might have been able to run three or four miles in that time, but that doesn't make Despaigne's showmanship any less incredible.
