Conor Gillaspie faceplanted into the camera well and somehow held onto the ball

With the Giants taking on the Dodgers on the final day of the season -- with a Wild Card spot on the line -- and with Vin Scully calling it for the final game of his 67-year career, you can't blame Giants third baseman Conor Gillaspie for wanting a little screentime. Unfortunately, he took that desire a little too literally. 
When Chase Utley popped up a ball down the third-base line in the top of the third inning, Gillaspie tracked it to the camera well and gravity did the rest. 

Not only did Gillaspie somehow hold onto the ball as he fell into the photog's well, but he got his very own Vin Scully pun too: "All's well that ends well." 
Gillaspie told MLB.com's Chris Haft after the game that he didn't even look at how close he was to the pit. "Honestly, if I looked I might have second-guessed going for it," the third baseman said. "In a situation like today where we have to win, if that ball was close enough for me to catch, I would have dove anywhere, any place, anytime to try to catch it."
After making the grab -- making sure to show it to the umpire as quickly as possible -- Gillaspie knew he had made a pretty special play. "It was one of those moments where, as a player, you won't ever forget. Everything has to happen perfect to have even an opportunity at a foul ball like that."
