Chris Sale tosses complete game, is totally impervious to postgame Gatorade shower
Baseball players come face-to-face with danger on a regular basis -- severe weather; possums; trying to hit Clayton Kershaw. And yet, only one phrase is guaranteed to strike fears into hearts all across MLB. Two words that can only mean desolation, despair and destruction of team uniforms: Gatorade shower.
They're cold. They're sticky. Even the mere suggestion of them can cause the steeliest pros to sacrifice innocent reporters:
Chris Sale, however, is no ordinary ballplayer. He struck out 274 batters in 208 2/3 innings last season. He's finished in the top five of AL Cy Young Award voting three separate times. And on Friday at Yankee Stadium, he gave up one run while throwing a complete game to move to 8-0 on the season.
Sale is pitching on a higher plane of existence, seeing only the strike zone, and he has no time for your Gatorade shenanigans:
You only had a giant jug of ice cold liquid dumped on you unexpectedly, Chris. Of course you wouldn't even flinch.
