The Pirates hopped in a time machine and went back to 1979 to take on the Brewers on Sunday
Before Sunday's game against the Brewers, the Pirates hopped in their DeLorean, drove at 88 mph and set their destination to 1979. Which means one very important thing: yellow pullover jerseys, black pants and the gorgeous pillbox caps that make the top of every player's head a fashion statement.
Which, to mix the metaphor, means the Pirates set their fashion phasers on stun.

It wasn't just the players taking part, though. The entire Pirates broadcast got in on the act, using 1970s style graphics.

The broadcasters themselves even managed to find room in this now clown car-like time machine too, sporting some mustard yellow blazers that came complete with throwback Pirates logo patches. I assume the long hair and mustache are simply a side effect of time travel to the wondrous '70s.
The new throwback uniforms will be worn for every Sunday home game for the Pirates, meaning there will be a guaranteed lift in your spirits 12 more times this season.
