Take heart, Phillies fans: Proof that Chase Utley and Jimmy Rollins belong together
Proof that Utley and Rollins belong together
When it was announced on Wednesday that Chase Utley is headed to the Dodgers in exchange for a pair of prospects, Phillies fans had a lot to feel: Gratitude, nostalgia, sadness, happiness. It can be hard to say goodbye to someone you've known and loved for nearly 13 years. But there's one thing the Philadelphia fans can take heart in: Utley is reuniting with an old friend.
The second baseman is joining his former shortstop counterpart once again in Los Angeles. It's like they simply belong together. Just think of all the memories Utley and Jimmy Rollins made with each other.
They laughed together:
They cried together:
They were crayon-drawn by Philadelphia kids together.
They turned division-clinching double plays together:
There were so, so many double plays.
And remember when they won a World Series championship together?
"Those things remain between us," Rollins said before the deal was official.
They were young together, and now they'll be not-so-young-anymore together. They might just be together forever.
