Carlos Gómez knows dingers -- he's got 116 of them for his career, some loud enough to leave even Adrián Beltré speechless. But he also knows that you can't hit a long ball every time. Sometimes you have to settle for a triple, or a double, or a garden-variety single or even -- gasp! -- a walk. So, during the Rangers' ALDS Game 3 against the Blue Jays, Gomez introduced the Walk Bat Flip -- because even productive-yet-slightly-less-righteous at-bats deserve some exuberantly spinning lumber:
Alas, though Gomez came around to score the first run for Texas, it wasn't enough -- thanks to Josh Donaldson's mad dash, the Blue Jays walked off with a 7-6 win. Toronto will play Game 1 of the ALCS on Friday night in Boston or Cleveland (time TBD). The ALCS will be broadcast on TBS, as well as Sportsnet and RDS (in French) in Canada. But remember the true lesson kids: The bat flip isn't just a celebration, it's a state of mind.
