Carl Edwards Jr. will play the 'Keep Pounding' drum before Thursday night's Panthers game

Attend a Carolina Panthers game and there's one sound you're guaranteed to hear before the players take the field. No, it's not the screeching of an actual panther and sadly it's not "Dominate the Foe" by Ked Woodley, either.

Rather, it's the rhythmic pounding of the giant Panthers "Keep Pounding" drum that plays as the team takes the field. Cubs reliever Carl Edwards Jr. will get a chance to "Keep Pounding" before Carolina takes on the New Orleans Saints on Thursday night, following in the footsteps of stars like Steph Curry and Kemba Walker.

The pitcher not only hails from nearby Newberry, S.C., but grew up a Panthers fan, too. "I've always watched the Panthers," the pitcher said. "I was a big fan of the late Sam Mills and his never-give-up attitude and complete dedication to his teammates. It was that same 'keep pounding' spirit that helped us come back from a 3-1 deficit and bring the World Series trophy to Chicago for our fans."
Will Edwards' drumming inspire the Panthers to victory? Will the team make a late substitution and bring Edwards in for Cam Newton in the fourth quarter to close out the game? All these and many more questions will be answered -- but only after 20 more times listening to "Dominate the Foe."
