Chad Huffman called himself safe after an epic slide, even though the ball clearly beat him

Meet Chad Huffman. The 31-year-old outfielder/first baseman is in camp with the Cardinals right now, and in Monday's contest with the Twins he was attempting to score from second base on a hard-hit single to left field.
With two outs in the top of the ninth and St. Louis clinging to a 1-0 lead, Huffman broke from second after Patrick Wisdom's line drive headed through the infield and toward Danny Santana.
Huffman, try as he might, was beaten by the throw by a good margin at the plate -- but that didn't keep him from trying his hardest to solicit a safe call anyway:

Never give up -- even if you're caught dead to rights, and even if you're notBrett Phillips. Never lose sight of the goal.
How's that for some Spring Training #MondayMotivation?
