Bryce Harper shouted out fellow D.C. sports hero John Wall after a mammoth walk-off homer
The walk-off homer is one of the most exciting moments in the game -- as long as you're a fan of the team doing the walking off. Nats star
This scenario played out to perfection on Saturday, as Harper's booming blast off
It was also basically an exclamation mark from Harper, who agreed with the club on a contract for 2018 earlier in the day. A pretty solid Saturday for Bryce, but it also extended a particularly eventful few days for D.C. sports in general. It came less than a day after John Wall's thrilling, season-extending three pointer in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals propelled the Washington Wizards into a winner-take-all Game 7 against the Boston Celtics.
Given that context, as well as the concept of "game recognize game," here's what Harper had to say about celebrating his new Nats contract in style, as reported by MLB.com's Jamal Collier:
"Just trying to be like John Wall, walk them off a little bit. I'm excited. Just to be able to go out there, win another one for our club, it's fun to be able to get that W. Nobody wanted to play extras with a doubleheader ahead of us tomorrow. Huge win tonight."
Yes, Wall heard Harper's comment, and approved:

When it comes to a game's key moment, Bryce seems more than willing to be The Guy, so to speak:
"Just lock it in. It's a lot of fun. To be able to go out there and compete and try to do the things you can to help your team win in an environment like that. Big moments, big spots, big situations, you always want to do that and live for that. I was having fun trying to do that tonight."
Having fun and getting the job done? That's skill.
