BREAKING: Taft wins Nationals Park Presidents Race
History was made in Saturday's edition of the Presidents Race at Nationals Park.
The newest ex-President to join the team, William "Bill" Howard Taft has been racing since Opening Day, but was caught in a Rooseveltian drought -- not yet grabbing that elusive W.
During the 4th inning of Saturday's Nats-Cubs game, the Presidents Race began and it started off testy, with Abe Lincoln taking out Thomas Jefferson. As the POTUSes (POTI?) rounded the right field corner, Washington dispatched Lincoln with a shove into the wall.
The last two standing were Taft and Roosevelt -- a situation eerily reminiscent of the 1912 Republican Convention. Much like in that scenario, the crafty Taft outmaneuvered Roosevelt and snatched victory in the footrace.
In 1912, Roosevelt ultimately ran as a third party candidate and won more votes than Taft. In 2013, he remains winless.
