Brad Miller kept his eye on the ball and recovered from a bad hop

As a round object on a relatively flat playing surface, a baseball usually follows a predictable straight line when hit on the ground. Every so often, however, the ball takes a bad hop.
During the second inning of Sunday's game against the Red Sox, Rays second baseman Brad Miller experienced a bad hop, but he showed that with enough persistence and concentration, even that obstacle can be overcome.

Miller provided a useful demonstration of the age-old advice to look the ball all the way into the glove with one exception: He looked it all the way into his bare right hand. Though the ball's trickiness got in the way of a potential double play, it undoubtedly set the stage for an impressive out.
