The Blue Jays doused new skipper Charlie Montoyo to celebrate his first career win
Opening Day marked the start of a new era for the Blue Jays, as Charlie Montoyo made his managerial debut. Although they were blanked by the Tigers, they returned the favor on Friday by beating them, 6-0.
The victory was a long time coming for the 53-year-old Montoyo. He managed his first Minor League game all the way back in 1997 and had coached throughout several levels in the Rays organization before finally being granted a shot at a Major League job by the Blue Jays in October 2018.
Now, big league win No. 1 is in the books.

Montoyo might be new to the Blue Jays, but it's obvious that he's already formed a close connection with his players.
Not convinced? Check out how the team celebrated his first win:

A clubhouse shower already? Pretty good. It's unusual to see a team rally around its new skipper so soon; Montoyo must be doing something special.
Looks like the Blue Jays hired a good one. Montoyo's old team sure thought so.
Congrats, Charlie!
