Baseball reacts to the devastating news that Roy Halladay passed away at the age of 40
The baseball world lost one of its best at far too young an age on Tuesday. The Pasco County Sheriff's Department confirmed that Roy Halladay, 40, has passed away after his single-engine airplane crashed into the Gulf of Mexico. The two-time Cy Young Award winner leaves behind his wife, Brandy, and two children, Braden and Ryan.
The eight-time All-Star, known as one of the toughest competitors with one of the kindest hearts, was remembered by friends and admirers in the Majors who are feeling his absence deeply. Here are some of those reactions:
My prayers and condolences go out to the Halladay family for this devastating loss today! 🙏🏽

I’ll never forget Aug ‘13. Doc and I were two months away from retirement. He was hurt, clearly. He was still pitching tho. One day in Wrigley he was throwing 83, and all over the place. I go to the mound and he just said “everything hurts.”
