Bartolo Colon doubles, scores, puts on a baserunning clinic in the process
Bartolo Colon has already proven this season that he can get around on a fastball every now and then, hitting 108-mph lasers to left field and, for the first time in his career, connecting on a titanic homer to left field.
In Thursday night's 6-4 win over the Pirates at Citi Field, Tolo added another notch to his offensive belt this season with a line-drive double to right-center in the third inning.
As if that wasn't impressive enough (and it was), Colon continued his trek around the bases by scampering to third on a single to center and hustling home to score on a sacrifice fly.
This sequence might not warrant its own limited-run baseball card, but it's definitely worth attention due to the pitcher's textbook execution on the basepaths.
Oh and by the way, he also tossed 7 2/3 innings of two-run ball before departing in the eighth and, eventually, picking up the victory. That's an all-around great day at the office.
