A lifelong Astros fan recalls the heartbreak of the A's Matt Joyce robbing him of a home run ball

Any fan sitting between the foul poles at a game has that hope, that impossible dream, of catching a home run ball. It's an experience given to a select few, and usually only happens if the fan is paying close attention to what's going on on the field.
One Astros fan sitting beyond the right-field wall in Thursday's game with the A's at Minute Maid Park thought this was his moment. Finally, after all those years, this would be the time he'd make the play. But just as Josh Reddick's second-inning line drive seemed headed his way, so, too, was A's right fielder Matt Joyce -- who made a very impressive catch to rob Reddick -- and this guy: 

It was quite a scene: 

After the play, Reddick couldn't help but tip his cap to Joyce, who's more or less taken over A's right field duties this season. 

In the clip atop this post, watch a brief interview with the fan (as conducted by MLB.com Real-Time Correspondent Rebecca George), who still had fun out there -- and besides, his Astros won, 6-1, so the day wasn't a total waste. And kudos to him, by the way, for having the presence of mind to keep himself from interfering with the play, as he was well aware Joyce was mounting an effort.
