The A's 2018 schedule features a game that all fans can attend for free

Major League Baseball released its tentative 2018 schedule on Tuesday afternoon, and there are plenty of highlights. There's a full slate of games on March 29, the earliest Opening Day ever. There's a matchup between the Cardinals and Cubs at Wrigley Field on the Thursday after the All-Star Game. We'll even see two two-game sets between the Cubs and Indians, in a rematch of last year's World Series.
Of course, with the release of the full schedule comes the partial release of teams' promotional schedules. And promotions don't get much better than what the A's have planned for their April 17 game against the White Sox: All fans will be able to get into the Coliseum for free.

According to MLB.com's Jane Lee, it's thought to be the first of its kind in the Majors. 
"We were really just looking to do something special on the actual anniversary date, and it's really a gift to the community, a gift to our fan base to say thank you for 50 amazing years," A's COO Chris Giles said. "We're really excited. It'll be a fun day."
Season ticket-holders and fans who attended the very first game at the Coliseum are guarranteed admission. Online registration for the remaining free tickets will begin in January.
Yes, free -- as in no cost for a ticket. Alas, that Dennis Eckersley puppet will still cost you.
