This Aledmys Diaz grounder started out way foul and then had some other ideas
Facing
The ball rolled foul. Not "rolled toward foul territory" or "looked like it might roll foul" -- the ball left Diaz's bat at a 45 degree angle, and was ticketed for the on-deck circle. And then, well:
The Cardinals' offense was more conventional the rest of the game with five home runs.
Speaking to MLB.com's Jenifer Langosch after the game, Diaz seemed strangely nonchalant: "That's why you run hard out of the box," he said. "I thought it had a chance [to turn back fair]. You never know."
Oddity of physics, or proof that Aledmys Diaz is a wizard capable of bending space and time to his will? You be the judge.
