Albert Pujols hit his first home run against the Cardinals, has now homered against every team
Albert Pujols has hit a lot of home runs -- 566 of them entering Thursday night. He's hit walk-offs (11), knocked out three in a game (four times) and demolished the Cubs with more home runs against them than any other team (56).
He even found a way to remove all joy from an entire city in a single swing:
The one thing he hadn't done was hit a home run against the Cardinals. That makes sense considering that he played for them for so many years and, even during blowouts, you're not allowed to switch sides to even things up.
In fact, in the five games he had played against them before Thursday's showdown, Pujols was just 2-for-19 against his old team.
But no more would that goose egg against his former team keep him awake at night. In the bottom of the ninth, Pujols unloaded against Seth Manness to give him a home run against all 30 teams.
He's the eighth Major Leaguer to "close his loop," as it were.
The other eight to homer against all 30 teams: Bautista, Beltran, Beltre, Drew, Gonzalez, Martin, Moss, McCann.

Unfortunately for the Angels, it wasn't enough. They lost to the Cardinals, 12-10.
