Adrian Beltre wanted to stay in the game, so he refused a pinch-runner

The Rangers cruised to a 3-0 victory over the Angels on Thursday night, thanks to a dominant outing by Martin Perez and a pair of homers from Drew Robinson and Mike Napoli. When Adrian Beltre singled to lead off the ninth inning, though, manager Jeff Banister wanted to do everything he could to push across another insurance run.
Out came Phil Gosselin from the dugout. The only problem? Beltre didn't want to go just yet:

That'll teach those whippersnappers to try to say you're not fast enough!

All in good fun. The man might be 38, but he knows to mess with people.
