With a runner on third and one out in the top of the third of Friday's Brewers-Cardinals game, Adam Wainwright stepped to the plate. Surely thinking, "He's the pitcher -- how hard could he possibly hit the ball?" Craig Counsell instructed his infielders to move in.
What the skipper should have done was move the outfielders back -- so far back that they were in the stands. Because that's where Wainwright deposited Wily Peralta's sixth pitch of the at-bat.
