Aaron Judge thinks he knows who'd win if he arm wrestled Giancarlo Stanton
One of the benefits of our social media landscape these days is the connection it can provide between fans and their favorite athletes. On Wednesday night, Yankees slugger Aaron Judge hosted a Reddit AMA (facilitated by Fanatics), fielding questions submitted by fans throughout the afternoon.
Among the highlights was one fan's question as to whether Judge thought he could take down teammate Giancarlo Stanton in an arm wrestling contest. Seeing as both players are rather formidable presences, to say the least (Stanton is listed at 6-foot-6, 245 lbs. to Judge's 6-foot-7, 282), Judge took the diplomatic approach:
"I'd give that to Giancarlo. He's a big dude."
That Judge, always so humble.
When asked about his favorite music, Judge revealed something interesting:
"That is really hard. I like Hip Hop/R&B though. Lately a lot of Travis Scott, Drake and J. Cole. I listen to the oldies too though, one time I was driving from Florida to California and I put on a Sinatra satellite radio station and listened the entire way back. I like that stuff for just hanging around the house or cooking too."
This brings up a few questions. First, was this Florida-to-California drive done in one straight shot? Did it involve hotel breaks? Was he driving alone? Whether driving alone or with somebody else, did he sing along to the Sinatra channel? How many repeat songs did he hear along the way?
We'll have to ask him during his next AMA.
As for his pick for the best slice of pizza in New York City -- which, as anybody knows, is always the subject of feverish debate around the internet -- Judge didn't cast a vote. Instead ...
"Still looking for it! I'll take some suggestions."
Regarding on-the-field activities, can he hear the fans when they cheer (or jeer) from the stands? Yep! And sometimes, it works ... but only if you try something new. Don't get after him with the same old stuff.
"Very clearly! I entertain some new or refreshing stuff, but tune out the standard things you hear every game. One time I had a guy say something at me like "toss me those batting gloves, you're not doing anything with them tonight anyways". So I did. I was like 0-for-3 with a strikeout or something."
Judge's full Reddit AMA is well worth a read, as it helps shine a light on one of the most dynamic sluggers in the game today. As for that important question ...
