While the Cardinals players compete on the field, their generous families join together to make a difference throughout the St. Louis community. Each year, the Cardinals Family – comprised of spouses and significant others of players, coaches and on-field personnel – give back through a variety of fundraisers for area charities.
Recent Highlights
Back to School by Prom Series
During the 2021 season, the Cardinals Family joined forces with player families from across the league to support "Back to School by Prom Series." Through the virtual online shopping event, players' significant others purchased back-to-school outfits for teenage girls in foster homes (or similar nonprofits) across the country. In St. Louis, the Cardinals Family provided new outfits to 20 girls at The Covenant House St. Louis which serves homeless or trafficked youth.
2021 Winter Warm-Up
During 2021's virtual Winter Warm-Up – Cardinals Care's largest annual fundraiser – members of the Cardinals Family helped raise money for area youth by donating baskets full of their significant other’s "Favorite Things" and autographed memorabilia for the online auction. Additionally, six Cardinals couples hosted a fun virtual experience where fans got a behind-the-scenes look into family life in the world of baseball. You can watch the recordings here.
Cardinals Moms Gather & Give Back
In 2021, a number of the players' moms came together with an idea to give back to the St. Louis community. On Friday, September 17th their vision came to life at the first-ever Cardinals Moms Gather & Give Back event in partnership with Rung for Women and Urban Harvest. Rung is committed to empowering women through educational, professional, and economic resources, and Urban Harvest builds community around inclusive and resilient local food systems.
During the event, Cardinals Moms Eileen Flaherty, Andrea DeJong, Janice Baio (Bader), and Jennifer Hicks toured Rung For Women with their sons to learn more about the organization and their work in the community. The moms then got to work in Urban Harvest's on-site garden and farm where they harvested, pruned and planted food which would become meals for the members. Other moms contributed through donations to both organizations.
