Oakland A’s giving back to the community during annual A’s Week of Giving
OAKLAND, Calif. — To celebrate the holiday season and continue to give back to the community, the Oakland A’s are hosting their annual A’s Week of Giving beginning today, Dec. 6, through Friday, Dec. 10. The A’s are surprising their two partner schools and several East Bay organizations with-much needed items throughout the week. The A’s Week of Giving is supported by Kaiser Permanente, PG&E, and Chevy.
Monday, Dec. 6

The A’s, in partnership with Pitch In For Baseball and Softball, will donate equipment, provide a full player scholarship, and cover fees for the 2022 spring season for the future superstars in the Oakland Girls Softball League, Oakland Athletic League’s middle school baseball program, and Oakland Boys and Girls Club. Each year, the A’s provide support to 65 leagues and more than 22,000 youth athletes through youth baseball and softball initiatives, including scholarship, uniforms, coaching, skills development workshops, and clinics.
Tuesday, Dec. 7

The A’s will continue their Week of Giving by surprising students and teachers at the Club’s two partner schools, Parker Elementary and Prescott Elementary. The A’s will provide grocery gift cards to students and Amazon gift cards to teachers.
Wednesday, Dec. 8 - Thursday, Dec. 9:
The A’s have adopted families at the Salvation Army Emergency Shelter and Oakland Elizabeth House and will provide care packages and holiday gifts for every family member. The A’s have also donated to Meals on Wheels to support more than 3,000 holiday care packages that will be distributed to senior citizens in the Bay Area.

The A’s are teaming up with Players for the Planet and One Tree Planted to host a tree planting event at Sobrante Park. The event is in support of the city’s goal of planting 350 trees in Oakland Parks this winter to revitalize low-income areas with disproportionate canopy cover and tree cover.
