Vice President, Human Resources
Vivian L. Mora joined the Astros organization in June of 2013. In her role, Vivian is responsible for all human resources functions, including aligning HR strategy with business objectives, talent and performance management, succession planning, talent acquisition, compensation and benefits, training and development and employee relations.
Prior to joining the Astros, Vivian was the founder and managing partner for Mora & Associates, an executive search and human capital consulting firm based in Katy, Texas. Before launching Mora & Associates, Vivian served in various leadership roles including almost eight years as the Vice President of Human Resources for the Houston Rockets and Toyota Center. Vivian previously led the human resource function for Texas-based HEB Grocery Company’s Houston Retail Support Center through several growth years. She has also held progressive positions in the energy and the printing industries with Constellation Energy, Entergy Corporation and with RR Donnelley.
Vivian’s educational background includes a Masters of Social Science concentrating in sociology with a minor concentration in economics from the University of Mississippi and a Bachelor of Science in marketing from Jackson State University. She holds the highest level of human resources certification as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and SHRM-SCP.
Vivian has served as a conference speaker for HR Houston, TLNT, the International Ticketing Association (INTIX), the Greater Houston Area Ticketing Association (GHATA) as well as HR Southwest. She is affiliated with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and the Human Resource Planning Society (HRPS).
In addition to her work with the Astros, Vivian is also an established artist. Her work has been shown in group exhibitions and juried competitions throughout Texas and has garnered recognition and awards both locally and nationally in the categories of non-objective abstract art, mixed media, and drawing.
Vivian is also deeply passionate about female empowerment, helping girls realize their potential and exercise their rights by working closely with Girls Inc. of Greater Houston. Vivian has served on the Board of Directors for Girls Inc. since 2012 and has donated both her time and her artwork to the organization. Vivian further supports the organization by donating 30% of the earnings garnered from her art to Girls Inc. throughout the year.
In 2017, Vivian was selected by Houston Woman Magazine as one of Houston’s 50 Most Influential Women of the year. Vivian resides in Katy, Texas with her son, Michael, and three dogs.
