Manager, Business Communications
Rachel Caton enters her second full season as a member of the Houston Astros Communications staff after joining the team in July 2021. Caton is responsible for the organization’s business PR and communications, as well as internal and external publications, including the monthly Game Day Magazine. She will also assist in day-to-day media relations and be the main contact for any community or special event.
Prior to joining the Astros, Caton spent 12 seasons working in college athletics and came to the Astros after a year as the Director of Football Communications at Army West Point, where she handled the day-to-day football PR and social media for the Black Knights, along with overseeing the communications team covering 30 sports.
Caton has a strong baseball background, spending nine seasons as a Division I baseball communications contact at Baylor University, Army West Point, Pepperdine University and the University of Southern California. Caton also assisted with football media relations at Baylor University as a secondary contact for two seasons and a tertiary contact at Boise State for one season.
Caton’s career started as a student-intern in the communications offices at the University of Washington and the University of Southern California. She was a two-season communications fellow for the Pac-12 Conference office and she also completed an internship with the Los Angeles Dodgers in community affairs, along with a high school internship for the single-A Rancho Cucamonga Quakes.
Caton is a two-time graduate of the University of Southern California, with a bachelor’s in communications, a minor in news, media and society and a master’s in communication management.
