Assistant General Manager
Bill Firkus is entering his first season as an Astros Assistant General Manager after being named to the position in January of 2023. In his role, Bill oversees player personnel, research & development, sports medicine & performance, and performance science.
Bill joined the Astros in July of 2013 and has served a myriad of roles in the Astros baseball operations department, including most recently working as the team’s Senior Director of Baseball Operations (2019-22). He also served as the club’s Director of Sports Medicine and Performance (2015-19) after originally joining the club as a Medical Analyst (2013-15).
Prior to joining the Astros, Bill worked in the healthcare field, for nearly three years in healthcare investment banking with Piper Jaffray and for nearly four years in marketing and strategy with Medtronic, the largest medical device manufacturer in the world.
Bill received his bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Wisconsin, Madison and his MBA from the University of California, Berkeley. He resides in Houston.
