Senior Director, Baseball Operations
Armando Velasco joined the Astros organization in January 2014 as a baseball operations intern, and now enters the 2020 season as the Senior Director of Baseball Operations. His duties include overseeing the day-to-day operations of the minor leagues, including both domestic and international affiliates and staff, as well as the Astros Latin American Scouting Operation. Armando previously served as the Director of Minor League Operations and Assistant Director of Player Development, assisting in the development and implementation of the Astros player development program, playing a lead role in active roster management of the club’s minor league affiliates and supporting the Astros Player Development staff.
Prior to joining the Astros, Armando served as a baseball operations intern with the New York Mets and a salary arbitration intern with ISE Baseball (formerly SFX Baseball Group).
A native of San Juan, Puerto Rico, Armando graduated from Boston College, cum laude, in 2008 and received his law degree from Tulane University in 2011, where he served as the Chair of the National Baseball Arbitration Competition in his second and third years. Armando currently resides in Houston.
