Gold stars: Ohtani, Judge, Skenes among six who'll wear special MLB uni logo in '25

Six of baseball’s top players are adding a little extra shine this season.
In collaboration with Topps, Fanatics and Nike, MLB is introducing a special Gold MLB logo patch for the 2025 season to celebrate a group of '24 award winners: MVPs Shohei Ohtani and Aaron Judge, Cy Young recipients Chris Sale and Tarik Skubal and Rookie of the Year honorees Paul Skenes and Luis Gil.
These six players will wear the emblem on the back of their jerseys throughout 2025. Following the season, 10 authenticated game-worn patches from each player will be transformed into exclusive autographed Logoman trading cards. The gold patches will also appear on retail versions of each player’s jersey.
Ohtani became the first player to sport the embroidery on Saturday, wearing it for the Dodgers’ exhibition game against the Yomiuri Giants at the Tokyo Dome. True to form, the superstar slugger crushed a two-run homer in the third inning. The Dodgers and Cubs are in Japan for the Tokyo Series, which will get underway Tuesday, kicking off the 2025 campaign.
The Gold MLB Logo Patch promotion follows the Debut Patch initiative that launched at the beginning of the 2023 season. Those patches, which adorn a player's jersey during his MLB debut, are also authenticated by MLB and utilized in Topps trading cards.
